KUST Holds Conference for International Development Promotion

  On June 1, the Conference for International Development Promotion of KUST was held. The theme of the Conference is "summing up experience, setting up the goal, and working painstakingly to promote the internationalization of KUST, improve the university's running level and expand its international influence.”




     Prof. ZHANG Yingjie, Chair of the University Committee of KUST, Prof. PENG Jinhui, KUST President, and Ms. LONG Wei, Deputy-director of Office for International Cooperation and Exchanges of Yunnan Provincial Department of Education were present at the conference. Nearly 300 KUST faculties attended the conference. Prof. WANG Hua, KUST Vice President, hosted the conference.



  KUST President PENG Jinhui made an opening speech at the conference. President PENG elucidated the significance of the historic opportunity of international development for KUST and the urgency for the implementation of the internationalization strategy of KUST. In his speech he urged more effective measures should be taken to promote the internationalization of KUST.


  KUST Vice President, Prof. WANG Hua made a work report on KUST’s International development. The report gives an account of the major achievements of the university's international development since the Twelfth Five-year Plan (2011-2015) was initiated in 2011. It summarizes the major challenges of KUST’s International development from the aspects of international working mechanism, international education programs and the scale of international students, and etc. The report proposes the framework of KUST's international development, the internationalization index and the main goals during the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan (2016-2020). Measures to propel KUST’s internationalization are also put fprward in the report.

   Prof. ZHANG Yingjie, Chair of the University Committee of KUST, delivered a summary speech. She emphasized that KUST’s internationalization is a systematic work. The university should further expand the international vision, make full use of national and international educational resources, improve the university’s core competitiveness to make KUST a regionally high level university with Chinese characteristics.


     Faculty of Metallurgical and Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Electric Power Engineering, and other three faculties shared their experience in constructing working mechanism, building international teachers teams, supporting neiboring countries and regions to cultivate technicians under the guidance of the Belt and Road Initiative, propelling international academic exchanges and cooperation and the international transformation of scientific and technological achievements, etc..
