Volleyball Events of 2017 Lancang-Mekong College Students’ Goodwill Games Start in KUST

  On the afternoon of May 22, the volleyball events of 2017 Lancang-Mekong College Students’ Goodwill Games & Kunming Sports and Culture Week for Southern and Southeastern Asian College Students were held in Kunming University of Science and Technology(KUST). Rajamangala University of Technology Isan (RMUTI) of Thailand beat Indian International Management Institute(IIMI) of India with a score of 3-0 in the opening game.



  10 teams representing universities from Singapore, Thailand, India, Laos, Vietnam and China participated in the games. The 7-day one-cycle games will be held at KUST Gymnasium in Chenggong, and the final will be held on the afternoon of May 29.

  Five events including men's football, men's volleyball, women's volleyball, women's basketball, and women's badminton are set in the Sports and Culture Week . All the events are hosted by the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, organized by Yunnan Provincial Department of Education and Yunnan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and sponsored by KUST and other 5 universities.

  The 2 successful events of "Sports and Culture Week in Kunming for Southern and Southeastern Asian College Students", initiated by KUST, are the precursors of this activity. Around 500 students from 16 universities in Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Korea, Taiwan and Yunnan played football and volleyball games in the first Sports and Culture Week, and altogether 531 students from 23 universities in India, Laos, Bangladesh, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan and Yunnan participated in the activity. The KUST team is the winner of the last two volleyball games.
