Somsak Kiatsuranont bestowed with Honorary Professor of KUST

In a ceremony held byKunming university of Science and Technology (KUST) on December 14, 2012 , Somsak Kiatsuranont,  President of the Thai National Assembly was bestowed the title of Honorary Professor of KUST by He Yulin, Chair of University Committee.  Somsak Kiatsuranont is a famous Thai politician and has been serving as the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand since August 3, 2011.



Mr. He Yulin extended warm welcome to the delegation headed by His Excellecy Somsak Kiatsuranont including House RepresentativePrasert Prakoonsuksaphan, Deputy Consul general of Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kunming Ms. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, House deputy secretary of the Thai Parliament Wijitra Watcharaporn. He introduced general information of KUST to the delegation and briefed the cooperation between KUST and several Thai Universities, as Chulalongkorn University, Boren University,Chiang Mai University, Ubon Royal University, and some successful cooperative programs as high-quality Chinese language training programs for Thai high school students hosted by KUST. He stressed that President Somsak’ s visit was a landmark for cooperation between  KUST and Thai educational institutions which would further strengthen exchanges and cooperation on the existing basis.


In a candid speech delivered to over 250 faculty members and students, Somsak highly marked KUST’s contribution to promoting Chinese culture overseas and praised KUST’ s  effort to advance exchange and cooperation with ASEAN countries.


Vice President Sun Shuhang, Zhang Jinsong, Tian Jun, Li Li, Niu Zhiliang, Yi Jianhong among others attended the ceremony.
